coverParticipatory budgeting and local empowerment workshops for the East Midlands

Participatory Budgeting PB is a flexible approach adaptable to all situations where public money is being spent on behalf of service users, citizens and communities.

The purpose of these free workshops is to provide potential PB practitioners across the East Midlands with the opportunity to access ‘benchmark’ information relating to PB, with a view to developing PB initiatives in their own localities.

Practical exercises, in depth discussion and audio-visual case studies will prepare you for implementing PB in your local authority, local partnership or public sector agency. Participants will learn about the current policy context relating to PB, its historical background and its recent growth in the UK. You will cover essential factors for success, what to avoid, and find out how to take your first steps in introducing effective PB as part of your empowerment work.
